Getting Water in the geenhouse

First attach hose to the water butt and run though a protecting pipe and under  under the path

Then run the hose around the inside of the greenhouse

Then attach to s suitable tap. A few spare tiles set in sand will suffice until I get a couple of paving slabs.

Lettuces bought as plugs from the garden centre under the cloches (5l water bottles cost €0.85 or 71p)
Parsley and coriander behind the watering cans.

Tidying Up

Last weekend I managed a severe prune of this flowering cherry. the rest will be felled later.

When felled I can attacked the conifers to the left which will then let in more light for this beech hedge planted to hide the composting area.

The small branches and twigs from the aforementioned cherry provided enough chippings to go around three sides of the greenhouse and the path inside.

The gutters have been connected to the water butt which is filling up nicely at the moment.

I also managed to use sold old bed slats I had lying around to make a small potting shelf.
I didn't cut them too short,by the way. In fact they were only just long enough to reach the brackets.

The bed on the third side of the greenhouse is no prepared ready for the strawberry cuttings.

Greenhouse finished

Well almost!

The gap under the threshold needs to be filled.

I still have to get the downpipes to turn the corner and meet each other then drain into my water butt

4 sides and roof beam

After a frantic hour or so the 4 sides were loosely bolted together and attached to the base.

The ridge beam was then added and someone went around checking for squareness.

Rafters and bracing ties have since been added and we unpacked all the glass so that I could make the two halves of the stable door and the two opening windows. According to the manual I need to slide the windows in place and fit the door before I ensure the whole thing is square and then I can fit the glass. Hoping that another couple of days should have it finished.

All the bits

A couple of photos of all the bits

A VERY heavy pallet of toughened glass.

And all the bits spread out in the garage.

Sorry about the poor quality.

Base Complete

After a few days of lugging railway sleepers around and dodging showers we managed to fill the gaps between the legs. This levels the site and provides room for a bit of topsoil inside the greenhouse.

After a faux pas in translation led to a mild panic when we realised that the ready mix concrete I had bought was in fact just sand and gravel - no cement - we quickly had to try and pulverise some old lumpy cement into powder which seems to have worked. Overnight it appears to have hardened.

Next we can start building the walls.
