Our House

A few images of the house and garden which I hope will be of interest to Lavinia and her family.

The main living room

The bedroom that Lavinia will have during her stay

A view from the window of that bedroom
The cherry tree in the spring

View of the countryside just behind the house. If you look very closely you may see some pheasants.

Getting Water in the geenhouse

First attach hose to the water butt and run though a protecting pipe and under  under the path

Then run the hose around the inside of the greenhouse

Then attach to s suitable tap. A few spare tiles set in sand will suffice until I get a couple of paving slabs.

Lettuces bought as plugs from the garden centre under the cloches (5l water bottles cost €0.85 or 71p)
Parsley and coriander behind the watering cans.

Tidying Up

Last weekend I managed a severe prune of this flowering cherry. the rest will be felled later.

When felled I can attacked the conifers to the left which will then let in more light for this beech hedge planted to hide the composting area.

The small branches and twigs from the aforementioned cherry provided enough chippings to go around three sides of the greenhouse and the path inside.

The gutters have been connected to the water butt which is filling up nicely at the moment.

I also managed to use sold old bed slats I had lying around to make a small potting shelf.
I didn't cut them too short,by the way. In fact they were only just long enough to reach the brackets.

The bed on the third side of the greenhouse is no prepared ready for the strawberry cuttings.
